The short answer? Yes — but it does require an additional device.

If you’re an avid cycler who uses a Wahoo bike computer on the road, you know how frustrating it is that the Apple Watch doesn’t directly connect to it. So, if you care about your heart rate stats during your ride, you’re forced to wear an additional device like a chest strap or arm band. Not only are they uncomfortable, but they need to be routinely charged.

Fortunately, the company, Watch Link, has solved this issue by building a product (Watch Link Pod) that slips easily into your pocket or bag and is powered by a small battery so you can forget amount it for months at a time.

How It Works

The Pod super easily pairs to your Apple Watch and unlocks the bluetooth functionality of the watch so it can act as a heart rate monitor with the bike computer. After it’s paired, all you need to do is find the device listed in the heart rate settings of the computer then start a workout in the Watch Link app. You’ll then be able to see your heart rate super clearly on your wrist and on the computer screen. Watch Link can save to Health as you’d expect from a watch app and your workout can be uploaded to Strava following your ride.

Price

It retails for $59.99 Although its price is comparable to heart rate monitors on the market, not having to fuss with or physically wear an additional device makes all the difference.

You can find the Watch Link Pod on their website or, for Prime members, avoid shipping cost by buying it on Amazon.
