If you’re an avid Peloton user and Apple Watch wearer like I am, then you’ll know the frustration of not being able to connect your watch heart rate to your Peloton.

Now, in all fairness, Peloton stepped up their game with their new Bike+ which includes GymKit capabilities, so can connect your watch directly to the Peloton for real-time heart rate sharing.

BUT if you’re like me ballin’ on a budget, you’re probably not interested in coughing up an additional $2.5k for a whole new bike.

WATCH LINK

That’s where the WATCH LINK pod comes in. It essentially reads your heart rate data from your Apple Watch using Bluetooth, then sends this data to your Peloton to stream your heart rate and zones in real-time, using Ant+.

The pod is 49.99, and considering I was about to spend $89.99 on a Polar strap (or $2.5k on a new bike because let’s be honest I thought about it), this feels like a steal. Plus, this method of connecting (via Ant+) supposedly offers the most stable connection on the market and I can definitely attest to this.

HOW TO USE IT

  1. Download the free WATCH LINK app to your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap + hold the pod to the watch app so it pairs.
  3. Start a Peloton workout, select Heart Rate Monitor, then select ‘Device: …’ to pair.
  4. Mount the WATCH LINK pod to your workout equipment or clip it to your clothing with a pod clip.
  5. Click the start button on your watch and it will display your heart rate on your Peloton and watch in real-time.
  6. Enjoy your Peloton workout!

The app will also track basic workout metrics like time, calories, and percent of max heart rate so you can be sure to fill up those Apple Watch activity rings. You can also use the pod and app with any Peloton equipment including Bike, Tread, Tread+ and even the iPad app.
